The Mohawk Valley Heritage Corridor stretches 130 miles from Central New York to the Hudson River. It connects eight counties, 203 municipalities and hundreds of visitor attractions as the first regional heritage area in the New York State Heritage Area System. The region encompasses almost 6,000 square miles, one-sixth of New York State, with a population of 1.2 million residents. The Corridor contains seven New York State Historic Sites, two National Park Service sites, the Oneida Indian Nation and hundreds of public and privately operated historic attractions. It includes almost one-third of the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor and the northern edge of the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Corridor. Together these weave the tale of our regional cultures. In the Corridor today, you can still dine in colonial taverns, walk Revolutionary battlefields, explore prehistoric caves and visit canal-era villages. You can step into a scene from one hundred years ago, dance to the Big City beat or relax in a country swing. Welcome to the Mohawk Valley where the past and present join in a landscape of infinite beauty.
